Rafael J. Grossmann, MD, FACS, the first surgeon to use Google Glass during surgery, will be the keynote speaker at Mount Desert Island Hospital’s 2015 Annual Meeting. Dr. Grossmann will address this year’s theme, “Expanding Education through Collaboration.”
The 2015 MDI Hospital Annual Meeting will be held on Monday, August 3 from 5:00-7:30 at the Bar Harbor Club. It is open to the public and free to attend. No registration is required. This year’s annual meeting will be held in memory of Mr. Gerrish Milliken, a longtime supporter and friend of the MDI community and MDI Hospital. From 5:00 to 6:00, musical guest Joe Cough will provide live jazz.

Students at Conners Emerson School in Bar Harbor, Maine will be in a pickle this Food Revolution Day thanks to Mount Desert Island Hospital and Chef Alex Klein of Havana. The Maine island hospital and local restaurant are again partnering to bring increased food knowledge and food education to Maine island children on Food Revolution Day 2015.
Established in 2011 by renowned chef Jamie Oliver, Food Revolution Day is an international day of action designed to promote food education and awareness for school children. MDI Hospital began participating in the initiative in 2013, and joined with Havana in 2014 to bring a hands-on, chef-driven cooking class to Conners Emerson.
