Willis’ Rock Shop in Bar Harbor, presented a check for $1,900 to staff of The Breast Center at MDI Hospital, Lois Willis-Wade and Leanne Linscott. The donation was made from proceeds for the sale of Trollbeads.
The gift was made as part of a nationwide drive by North American Trollbead Distributor Lund Trading, LLC to support breast cancer research. Rather than supporting a national organization, the Willis family decided to make their gift to a local cause, supporting the Breast Center’s important work in breast cancer detection and prevention.
The unique Trollbeads, which are still available, have won international artistic recognition and have recently been exhibited at Sculpture Objects & Functional Art in Chicago and New York. The beads, which are made from the raw materials including sterling silver, 18 carat gold, Italian Murano glass, natural pearls and precious stones can be worn on a silver or gold chain as a bracelet or necklace.
