Childbirth Education Classes

The Prepared Childbirth Class is a day-long class intended for the pregnant mother and her support person. Topics include the Employing Mindfulness in the Labor Process, Relaxation and Positions in Labor, Managing Pain, Possible Interventions, the Role of the Partner, Bonding with the Newborn, and Feeding and Caring for the Newborn. The class is held from 9 am to 3 pm at Birch Bay Retirement Village at 25 Village Inn Road in Bar Harbor.

The Breastfeeding Class provides further preparation in Breastfeeding and Infant Care from the Certified Lactation Consultants and Counselors at MDI Hospital. Classes will be offered once a month from 6 pm to 8 pm at MDI Hospital’s Lisa Stewart Women’s Health Center located at 330 Main Street in Bar Harbor.
