We are seeing an increase in Influenza A (flu) cases in our community over the past several weeks. Taking a few simple precautions can help protect yourself, your family, and those most at risk of serious illness. 😷

Please help reduce the spread of flu by keeping the following in mind and encouraging friends and family members to do the same:
-Be aware of symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, or fatigue
-Stay home and avoid close contact with others if you are feeling unwell
-Practice good hand hygiene by washing your hands often with soap and water
-Cover your coughs and sneezes and consider wearing a mask if you are sick or around others who may be vulnerable

🌼 Congratulations to Jocelyn Trenholm, RN, on Receiving the DAISY Award! 🌼

“I took a fall while hiking down a mountain in Acadia National Park. Not until I sat down for lunch in Bar Harbor hours later did I discover bleeding from what I realized was gash in the back of my head. After lunch, I walked through town to the Emergency Room at MDIH. This is where I first encountered Jocelyn as she came out of the ER to immediately greet me and preform a triage assessment. Once in the ER she was empathetic, kind, attentive and over the top professional. I tear up recalling her calm nature and the comfort she provided to me. Above all, her kindness and empathy kept me calm while I did not quite know yet the severity of my injury or what may be in store for me. She shared her other interests with me which included her talent of hair styling. After Radiology cleared any further concerns regarding my injury and quite a few staples later, she was braiding my hair in a style to keep my wound clear to heal since she knew I had yet to travel back home. She did this for me out of the pure kindness of her heart. This act did as much toward my healing and peace of mind as did the medical procedures performed. She didn`t have to, and no one asked or expected her to go that extra mile. She just did. I will never forget Jocelyn and her care. My greatest hope is that I can reflect into the world the compassion that she has towards her patients. What an inspiration she is!” ...
