From all of us at MDI Hospital, we hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend and start the month! July brings several new campus improvement updates that may affect how you navigate and access key areas. Please review the following updates and as always reach out if you have any questions or concerns:
Facilities Moves and Access Updates
- PT/OT Relocation: Physical and Occupational Therapy services at the hospital will move to the 2nd floor of the Cadillac Mountain Medical Building (CMMB) located on Main Street.
- Welcome Sign Relocation: The welcome sign will be moved from its current location by the picnic table to align with evolving traffic patterns.
Stanwood and Surrounding Area
- Movement around Stanwood will be limited due to drainage work on the between Hancock parking area and Main Street of the hospital campus. Please use Wayman and Hancock for consistent access.
Parking and Site Navigation
- New Construction Zone: Parking lot construction will begin on the Hancock side, with drainage work between Hancock and Stanwood expected around mid-month.
- Employees have been offered off campus parking in order to allow for more patient parking on site.
- Wayfinding Reminder: Please follow posted signage and do not walk through active construction zones for your safety.
Emergency Department Access and Internal Disruption
- ED Enabling Phase Begins: Ambulance and pedestrian drop-offs to the Emergency Department must enter from Hancock
- Once this begins mid- to late-July, you will not be able to cross campus in a vehicle. For example, if you drive onto campus from Wayman Lane and need to get over to the Breast Health Entrance or Cooper Gilmore, you will have to exit back onto Wayman, use Main Street, and enter the Hospital campus from Hancock.
- Excavation for Ambulance Entrance: Work will begin on the new ambulance entrance this month, with construction noise expected between 8 AM and 5 PM.
Sound Study
- A sound study is in progress as a result of the hum/ringing sound that many of you have noted. If you notice any changes—better or worse—please share your feedback so we can assess the impact of construction noise.
- Once the sound study is completed, a step necessary in order to make effective steps towards noise remediation, the results will be shared with you all and on the landing page and in our email updates.
Looking Ahead to August
- Interior Construction Work: In mid-to-late August, interior work will begin inside the hospital, including changes in the ED, the former PT/OT area, and the lab lounge.
