As Campus Improvement efforts continue on the MDI Hospital campus, we want to share a few important updates for the month of September. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we move forward with this important project.
Beginning September and continuing through December 2025, there will be two distinct access points on the hospital campus and it is very important to understand the distinction between the two.
Campus Access & Parking
- If you enter the campus by vehicle via Hancock Street, you will need to exit via Hancock Street.
- If you enter the campus by vehicle via Wayman Lane, you will need to exit via Wayman Lane.
- Stanwood is closed, no through traffic—access is for parking only.
- Parking by the Wayman Lane entrance provides access to the Hospital Main Entrance and Registration.
- Parking by the Hancock Street entrance provides access to Cooper Gilmore Health Center, MRI, the Breast Health Center, and direct access to the Emergency Department.
- If you need to go directly to the Emergency Department, please enter using Hancock Street
Construction Activity
- We are starting ledge removal at the rear of the hospital by using mechanical means to hammer away existing material. This enabling work will create some noise during the day.
- This will take place Monday through Friday, 8AM – 5PM
- Work on the west side of the building, facing Main Street, will include excavation.
- Abatement work is beginning, and you may notice workers in full PPE gear outside. This is standard practice when performing abatement work in buildings of a certain age. Please be assured there is no risk to patients, visitors, or the public.
Noise Update
- Our engineering team is proceeding with implementation of the recommendations from the recent external sound study, which identified the source of the noise some neighbors had reported. We are working toward a resolution to help mitigate the impact, and we appreciate your ongoing feedback.
