Effective immediately (1.14.26), Mount Desert Island Hospital is reverting direct access to the Emergency Department (ED) back to Hancock Street.
After a brief period of using the temporary Emergency Entrance via Wayman Lane, the hospital determined that additional adjustments are needed in order to move forward for an extended period of time.
While we anticipate these updates should only take a couple of weeks to complete, we recognize the nature of construction and Maine winter to delay projects such as these. Until another update is posted on our website or social media platforms, patients seeking emergency care should access the Emergency Department directly via Hancock Street. Emergency vehicles will also use Hancock Street to access the ED during this time.
