As work on our campus improvement project continues, here’s a look at what you can expect throughout November:
- Main Street Area: Steel is going up at the new main entrance, and drainage work is underway along Main Street. This work will impact some parking spots and sidewalks but should not affect the flow of traffic. Please pay attention to signage and blocked-off areas for your safety, as large trucks and 18-wheelers will be coming and going with material deliveries and as steel goes up. Also be alert as overhead work will also be getting underway in coming weeks.
- Office Moves: Administrative offices for some clinical staff on the first floor have been temporarily relocated, and Hematology has moved to the space across from where Physical Therapy used to be on the first floor. If you need help locating a department or space that may have moved, please let registration know.
- Sewer Work: Sewer connection tie-in is scheduled for Sunday, November 9, affecting the driveway in the area of 8 Wayman Lane. This work should not impact Wayman Lane traffic or create any odor issues.
- Hammering: Hammering is expected to continue this month as crews make progress in the Emergency Department area.
- Paving Work: On or about November 17, paving will take place at the Wayman Lane entrance. Expect temporary traffic disruptions, as well as some associated noise and odor. During the second half of the month, crews will pave a new employee parking lot near the Kogod Center and extend paving work out to Main Street along the general parking area.
- Site Plans: Updated site and phasing plans are posted to our landing page: mdihospital.org/campusimprovement. These should give you an idea of where the work will be during various timeframes throughout the next couple of years.
- Tree Removal: The planned removal last week was postponed due to inclement weather. Tree removal is now scheduled for Nov 5-6.
- 310 Main Street: Demolition begins today and is expected to take a couple of days for demo and site cleanup.
We appreciate your continued patience and cooperation as this work moves forward. Thank you for your understanding as we make progress towards an improved, accessible hospital campus.
