Lisa Stewart Women's Health Center

For more than two decades, I have been committed to caring for women throughout rural Maine, helping them regain comfort, confidence, and control over their health. I believe that no woman should have to endure the physical or emotional burden of pelvic pain, abdominal pain, abnormal bleeding, hormone imbalance, incontinence, or sexual dysfunction. These issues, while often difficult to discuss, can have a profound impact on daily living, relationships, and overall well-being. My goal is to address them openly, compassionately, and effectively so that nothing interferes with a woman’s ability to live a full and active life.

As one of six girls, I grew up understanding the importance of empathy, support, and treating others as family. That philosophy continues to guide my care today, I strive to treat every patient as I would want my own family to be treated. My focus is on providing individualized, evidence-based care with a strong emphasis on patient education and partnership. By offering a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic options, including medical management, procedural interventions, and surgical solutions, I work to help women feel whole and confident again.

Difficult gynecologic issues such as female sexual dysfunction and urinary incontinence are deeply personal and often minimized or ignored. I believe in addressing these concerns directly and aggressively, with the understanding that restoring health in these areas can profoundly improve quality of life. My mission is to create a safe, respectful environment where women feel empowered to talk about their symptoms and participate actively in their care decisions.

Having lived and worked in rural Maine for more than 20 years, I have developed a deep appreciation for the resilience and independence of the women I serve. My approach to care reflects that same spirit grounded in respect, compassion, and the pursuit of practical, effective solutions that support long-term wellness.

Outside of my practice, I enjoy spending time with my family, including my husband and our 200-pound mastiff, George, affectionately known as the “favorite child,” a title confirmed by my three grown children. When not working or hiking Maine’s trails with George, I often find joy in basket weaving or crafting mosaics, creative pursuits that remind me that, with patience and care, every intricate piece can come together into something strong, balanced, and whole, much like the healing process itself.
