Care Philosophy: “My main goal in primary care is to work with you on accomplishing your goals. The key word there being *with* you, as we are a team – but you are the most important part, and your opinions matter. I want to meet you where you’re at, and considering many chronic issues are not going to resolve with a “quick fix,” I want to support you on that journey and whatever it may entail. I strive to ensure my patients fully understand what problem is, which allows them to make educated decisions about their care plan. I encourage patients to engage in the treatment plan by presenting multiple options to move forward and allowing them to select what sounds best for them as individuals, because health care isn’t “one size fits all.” Most importantly, I prefer to focus on the whole patient, as opposed to the issue in front of me. I tend to find that it not only uncovers important factors that could ultimately lead to a solution, but that it also helps me develop a strong and trusting relationship with my patients.”

Sarah Pasquine, PA-C, MPH is a primary care provider at Cadillac Family Practice, part of MDI Hospital and Health Centers. She brings a patient centered, collaborative approach to care, grounded in her belief that health care works best when providers and patients function as a team.

Sarah’s philosophy of care focuses on meeting patients where they are and working together to create thoughtful, personalized care plans. She emphasizes shared decision making, clear communication, and education so patients fully understand their health and feel empowered to make informed choices. With an understanding that many chronic conditions do not have quick solutions, Sarah is committed to supporting patients through each step of their care journey. She takes a whole person approach to medicine, recognizing that health is influenced by many factors beyond a single diagnosis and that strong, trusting relationships are key to effective care.

With a background in public health and more than five years of experience in that field prior to pursuing a clinical degree, Sarah brings a broad and holistic perspective to patient care. Her medical interests include primary care, hospitalist medicine, cardiology, rural health, and palliative and end of life care. She is particularly passionate about ensuring patients and families feel supported during serious illness, drawing on her previous experience in hospice care. Growing up in Presque Isle, Maine, she developed a deep appreciation for rural medicine and the creativity and adaptability it requires.

Sarah was drawn to Mount Desert Island through her long standing passion for rural health care and a shared sense of adventure with her husband. When the opportunity arose to relocate to Bar Harbor during the final stages of PA school, she joined MDI Hospital and has never looked back. Nearly four years later, she and her family have settled into island life, started a family, and remain deeply committed to living in and serving the community.

Outside of work, Sarah enjoys staying active and spending time outdoors. She finds peace in nature and can often be found walking local trails with her dog or exploring the island with her family. As the parent of a young child, she enjoys discovering the many opportunities MDI offers for families and children. She also enjoys socializing with friends at local restaurants and admits to an occasional fondness for reality television.

Sarah earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of New England in 2022 and her Master of Public Health with a certificate in Health Policy Analysis from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health in 2015. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Maine at Orono in 2013. She is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
