If your New Year’s resolution is to improve your health by quitting smoking, Mount Desert Island Hospital wellness programs can help.
“Even if you’ve just been thinking about quitting now is the time to put a plan together,” said MDI Hospital’s wellness coordinator Kathy Mulligan. “We encourage folks to formulate a plan so when they feel it’s time to quit they’ve got a plan in place.”
To help with planning and to share resources that are available, Mulligan is hosting a drop-in on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012 from 6 to 8 pm in conference room B at MDI Hospital. As part of the program Mulligan will share information about quitting smoking, setting up a quit plan and learn about various quitting aids and how to obtain them. “Many people are still not aware of how effective smoking cessation products such as Chantix, patches, or gum can be. Some aids, such as patches, can be obtained without cost from the Maine Tobacco HelpLine.” Mulligan said.
