Just in time to kick off the summer, Mount Desert Island Hospital and the American Red Cross are hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, May 23. The event will be held from 11 am to 4 pm at the Bar Harbor Municipal Building.
“The vacation season is typically a time when the demand for donations rises while the number of donors falls so it’s a great time to give something back before the peak summer season,” said Kathy Mulligan, MDI Hospital’s community health educator and organizer of the local blood drive. In addition to the knowledge of giving the gift of life, donors will receive a free day pass to any Maine State Park.
Donors are asked to schedule an appointment in order to minimize their time commitment. Call Kathy Mulligan at 288-5082 ext. 1624 to make your appointment to give the gift of life. For more information about donating blood, visit maineredcross.org.
