Show your support of Breast Health Awareness Month on Pink Tie Day

In commemoration of Breast Health Awareness Month in October, The Breast Center at Mount Desert Island Hospital invites everyone to participate in the first-ever Pink Tie Day on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012. When you wear your favorite, or new, pink tie or shirt, you will be showing your support in the fight against breast cancer.

“We wanted a simple way for men to participate in the month-long commemoration because even though the number of men directly afflicted with breast cancer is low, men are certainly impacted when the women in their lives are diagnosed,” said Jeff Murad, MDI Hospital’s director of medical imaging and laboratory services. “This way husbands, sons, fathers, brothers, and friends can help bring greater attention to breast health and prevention issues.”

To show there is strength in numbers, MDI Hospital invites all Pink Tie Day participants to meet outside The Breast Center at MDI Hospital for a group photo at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 16. For more information about National Breast Cancer Awareness Month visit www.nbcam.org.

The Breast Center at MDI Hospital offers complete breast imaging services and is Downeast Maine’s only Breast Imaging Center of Excellence. To learn more about The Breast Center’s services, visit www.mdihospital.org or call 288-8435.
