A Message from MDI Hospital

On June 24, 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court issued its ruling in a case called Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. This ruling ended federal protection of abortion rights. Each state can now decide if abortion should be allowed and under what situations.

The State of Maine has protections in place that safeguard patient choice.

Mount Desert Island Hospital will continue to provide high-quality care to all patients who come to us for care. We will do this no matter their state or country of origin. We respect the very personal, and sometimes very difficult, decisions that patients make together with their care teams.
