Diabetes Education

Diabetes Education Program
The Diabetes Education Program at Mount Desert Island Hospital provides comprehensive education and one-on-one support to help you manage and prevent or delay diabetes complications. As affiliates of Maine’s Diabetes Prevention and Control Program, our program has achieved recognition from the American Diabetes Association for meeting the national standards for diabetes self-management education.
Our educators, which consist of registered nurses and dieticians, are available by appointment and are willing to work with you to find a time and location that will be convenient for you. Appointments are available at MDI Hospital and health centers. A referral by your primary care provider is required to participate in the education program. Once the referral process is complete, we will call you. Please feel welcome to give us a call, and we will be happy to assist you in obtaining a referral and answering any questions you may have.
Please call our office to learn more about diabetes education at our Bar Harbor and Southwest Harbor locations.
