Mount Desert Island Hospital’s Physical Therapy Department offers a full range of therapeutic services for the treatment and prevention of injury and illness. Physical Therapy services are provided at three convenient locations; Cadillac Mountain Medical Building in Bar Harbor, the Community Health Center in Southwest Harbor, and the Trenton Health Center in Trenton.

Physical Therapy
Inpatient Care: (Offered at MDI Hospital)
Gait training, bed transfers, strengthening and post-surgical exercise. Services offered to both acute and swing bed patients.
Outpatient Care: (Offered at all locations)
Mackenzie extension exercise, joint mobilizations, manual muscle techniques, mulligan approach to soft tissue complaints, strengthening exercises, home exercise, biomechanical assessments, vestibular rehab, Kinesio Taping, and balance training.
Occupational Therapy
Inpatient Care: (Offered at MDI Hospital)
ADL’s, strengthening, post-surgical exercise and splinting. Services offered to both acute and swing bed patients.
Outpatient Care: (Offered at MDI Hospital)
Splinting, neuro rehab, exercise and strengthening, Kinesio Taping and home exercise programs.
