We are thrilled to announce there will be a summer MDI Health / Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Academy, course beginning June 29th.
While this course is free for MDI Health Employees, non-employees of MDI Health can still enroll in the course for a cost of $1500. The $1500.00 is be paid in full prior to the start date of June 29th, 2026.
Upon successful completion, students will be eligible to sit for the State of Maine CNA licensing exam and take the next step in becoming a registered Certified Nursing Assistant.

The course is 152 hours in length: 72 hours of lecture, 32 hours of skills and 48 hours of clinicals.
Program Details

- Class Schedule:
- Mondays: 4:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M.
- Thursdays: 4:00 P.M. — 9:00 P.M
- Clinical dates to be announced.
- Clinical Rotations: Hands-on training at MDI Hospital’s Med-Surg Floor and Birch Bay Retirement Village

Prior to being eligible for the C.N.A. course the student must pass a reading equivalency exam “CASAS”.
The first item a student must do is to please reach out to Lauren Koncinsky to schedule a time for the CASAS exam. The CASAS exam is a reading equivalency test that needs to be passed with a score of 240 to be eligible for the State of Maine C.N.A. requirements to enroll in the C.N.A. course.
MDI Adult Education will be implementing the CASAS exam.
CASAS Exam times are:
- June 2nd 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- June 6th 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- June 10th 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
