The Mount Desert Island Hospital and Health Center’s (MDIH & HC’s) Patient Family Advisory Council (PFAC) is a collaborative committee established to bring together patients, family members, caregivers, and hospital staff to enhance the quality, safety, and overall experience of healthcare at our hospital.
PFAC members serve as a voice for patients and their families, offering valuable insights, suggestions, and feedback based on their own experiences within the healthcare system. By actively participating in meetings, discussions, and planning, PFAC members play a critical role in identifying opportunities for improvement, developing patient-centered policies, and ensuring that hospital services meet the needs and expectations of the community.
PFAC embodies the hospital’s commitment to partnership, empathy, and transparency, creating a healthcare environment that prioritizes respect, dignity, and the unique perspectives of every patient and family member.
Key activities of PFAC include:-Providing feedback on hospital programs, policies, practices, and the overall patient experience from a patient and family perspective.
- Collaborating with hospital leadership to develop strategies that enhance patient safety, communication, and care quality.
- Participating in initiatives aimed at improving the patient experience and supporting patient-centered initiatives.
- Serving as ambassadors to foster a supportive, accessible, and inclusive healthcare environment.
Through PFAC, patients and families can influence positive changes in our organization’s healthcare delivery and ensure that the hospital’s services are continuously aligned with the values and expectations of the community it serves.
