Bar Harbor, Maine – Mount Desert Island Hospital & Health Centers, for the second consecutive year, has been named among the Best Places to Work in Maine. This recognition comes from the Maine State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management, Best Companies Group, and BridgeTower Media as part of a research-driven program that evaluates companies through a comprehensive assessment of workplace policies, practices, and benefits, along with confidential employee surveys that measure satisfaction and culture.

Best Places to Work in Maine identifies, recognizes, and honors the best places of employment across the state in three categories: small (15–49 U.S. employees), medium (50–249 U.S. employees), and large (250 or more U.S. employees). To be considered, companies must be publicly or privately held; for-profit, nonprofit, or a government entity; have at least 15 full- or part-time employees working in Maine; maintain a facility in the state; and have been in operation for at least one year.
Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process, analyzed the data, and used their expertise to determine the final rankings. The evaluation consisted of two parts: an assessment of each nominated company’s policies, practices, and demographics, which accounted for approximately 25% of the total score; and a confidential employee survey, which made up 75% of the final score. The combined results determined the top companies and final rankings.
