Health and wellness will be on display during Mount Desert Island Hospital’s annual Health Fair, Saturday, October 30th from 10am to 1pm at Birch Bay Retirement Village. This free event is open to the public and will provide an opportunity to learn about many resources for a healthy lifestyle.
The event will also offer a convenient chance to get flu shots and free health care screenings. For children there will be pumpkin painting just in time for Halloween.
Exhibitors will be on-hand, displaying information and answering questions about their services. Fifty free bike helmets will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
Screenings scheduled for the Health Fair include skin, body mass index, blood pressure, bone density, cholesterol, hearing, posture, eye pressure, and foot checks. Health care providers from within the MDI Hospital organization and beyond will be on hand to provide the services.
A representative from MDI Physical Therapy will be present information on a therapeutic approach to improved balance. Birch Bay Retirement Village will have information about the many retirement living options at its scenic Bar Harbor location, as well as its day program for people with memory loss in Southwest Harbor at the Straus Center.
Demonstrations on alternative healing practices including acupuncture, reflexology, massage, the Feldenkrais Method and Integrated Awareness will also be available.
