MDI Hospital & Health Centers Wear Red to Support Heart Health Awareness

Mount Desert Island Hospital and Health Center staff members came together on February 4 to support National Wear Red Day®, part of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign to raise awareness about heart disease and stroke in women during American Heart Month. Most heart disease and stroke deaths are preventable, and cardiovascular diseases continue to be a woman’s greatest health threat. According to the American Heart Association, 1 in 3 women will die from heart disease and stroke – making it more deadly than all cancers combined. National Wear Red Day® takes place the first Friday of February each year. Visit https://www.heart.org for more information.

We encourage all of our patients to take care of their hearts by moving more, eating healthy foods, maintaining a healthy weight, reducing stress, improving sleep and by quitting smoking. Our Cardiac Rehab, Cardiopulmonary and clinic staff are here to help you manage your heart health. Talk to your primary care provider about how you can reduce your risk factors!
