Bar Harbor, May 20, 2023 – The Bar Harbor/MDI Rotary Club and Mount Desert Island Hospital are excited to announce that the 18th Annual MDI Rotary Adventure Mini Golf Challenge has successfully raised over $5,000, benefitting the MDI Hospital Oncology Department. This event, held on Saturday, May 20th brought together community members and business partners for a fun filled morning with the purpose of supporting this vital resource to oncology patients on Mount Desert Island.
The fundraiser, put on by The Bar Harbor/MDI Rotary, attracted participants of all ages who gathered at Pirate’s Cove Adventure Center in Bar Harbor to enjoy a day of friendly competition. This event was made possible through the generosity and support of not just the players, but the various local business sponsorships. Scott Hammond, dedicated Rotarian and lead on this event, expressed “I am extremely grateful for the business support of the event as we had generous sponsors for all thirty-six holes, and it was particularly wonderful to see the community support in the record number of teams participating. After a few years not having this event due to the pandemic, I think people were glad to have the opportunity again to gather in person and have fun. It was great to see the course filled and I credit the dedication and enthusiasm of the advancement staff at MDI Hospital for promoting the event. I look forward to working with them, and the community, next year. Lastly, a big thank you to Pirate’s Cove! People love the venue.”
Heather Jones, Advancement Officer for the Annual Fund at MDI Hospital, emphasized the significance of community and business support at this event by saying, “It was wonderful to see so many families, friends and business members out playing in support of MDI Hospital. Such representation supports the importance of a hospital in our community and it’s a real vote of confidence in our hospital and the need for exceptional care our patients receive.”
