Mount Desert Island Hospital’s Vice President of Finance Chrissi Maguire-Harding has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce. Originally appointed to fill an open seat on the board in August, this fall’s election formalizes her position on the board for a three year term.
“The Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce is very excited to have Chrissi on our Board of Directors. She brings a great deal of board experience and a strong financial background to her position on the board,” said Chris Fogg, the chamber’s executive director. “Mount Desert Island Hospital is one of the largest stakeholders in our community and their involvement on our board illustrates the strong link between their organization and the business community.”
A long-time Ellsworth area resident and graduate of Ellsworth High School, Maguire-Harding has been deeply involved in community activities including serving as president of the board of the Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce as well as on their finance and development committees, currently she is on the steering committee for the Downeast YMCA’s Campaign for Camp, and an active member of the Ellsworth Lioness Club.
Maguire-Harding is a champion of the region’s natural, intellectual and commercial resources that she says can be promoted to encourage responsible and sustainable economic development on Mount Desert Island. “While tourism is the economic engine of our area, the depth and diversity of our year-round community can be a tremendous asset in growing technology-based organizations and creating new opportunities in the community.”
