Patients at MDI Hospital’s Island Infusion Center benefit from Rotary Club gift

Patients at Mount Desert Island Hospital’s Island Infusion Center will be more comfortable and have greater access to care thanks to the generosity of the Bar Harbor (MDI) Rotary Club.

The club this week presented the Island Infusion Center staff with a check for $6,100 representing the proceeds from the club’s annual Adventure Golf Tournament at Pirate’s Cove mini golf. The funds will be used to purchase a new infusion chair to make lengthy treatments more comfortable, two tablet computers for patients to use, and 200 $20 gas cards that can be offered to patients for whom the cost of travel to and from treatment would be a hardship.

The club hosts the annual and unconventional golf tournament to support cancer causes in the MDI community. The club’s next Adventure Golf Tournament will be May 18, 2013. For more information about the event or Rotary Club activities, contact Scott Hammond at scott.hammond@thefirst.com.
