A walk-a-thon to benefit educational programs for residents at Birch Bay Retirement Village will be held Friday, Dec. 7, 2012. The one mile walk will begin at 4 pm at the Mount Desert Island Hospital parking lot and will follow Main Street around the Village Green.
Funds raised by walkers will help provide programs such as the LifeBio program for consumers and their families. These programs stimulate the mind and body and add to the quality of life of consumers at Birch Bay Village.
The walk is part of a student project by Linsey Matthews, who is a graduate student at Husson University. The goal of the project is to increase community awareness and to gain experience in a real-world fund-raising setting.
