Soft opening marks a community-supported milestone in campus improvements
MDI Hospital’s new Main Entrance will open to patients and visitors at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, October 19, marking an important milestone in MDI Health’s ongoing Campus Improvement Project.
Accessed from Main Street, the new entrance provides a welcoming arrival space with a new registration area and patient and visitor parking lot. Beginning October 19, patients and visitors should use the new Main Entrance. The Wayman Lane entrance will become an employee-only entrance accessible by badge. Entrance to the Emergency Department will remain unchanged.

Their support is helping us create a more welcoming, accessible hospital and strengthen care close to home for generations to come.”
During the soft opening, staff will be available to welcome patients, answer questions, and help them find their way. The hospital team will use these first weeks to refine arrival and registration procedures, guided by patient and visitor experiences.
Oncology and infusion patients should also enter through the new Main Entrance and check in at registration before proceeding to the second-floor Infusion/Oncology Center. Designated oncology patient parking will be available in the new visitor lot.
The new Main Entrance is one phase of a broader effort to modernize the hospital campus, including expansion of the Emergency Department, and improvements to interior navigation. Construction will continue in phases, with the expanded Emergency Department expected to open in early 2028.
The project reflects years of planning by the MDI Health Board of Trustees, leadership by Maguire and the hospital team, and generous support through the Building Our Future Campaign. MDI Health also recognizes construction partner Landry/French, architecture and engineering firm SMRT, and employees across the organization for their work in preparing the new space to welcome patients.
