We know that this is a difficult time for you and your family. You may have questions and concerns about your health and you may also need help getting the care that you need. Our patient navigators are here to help you through this challenging time. We want to help you get the support that you need so that you can get the best possible care.
Our patient navigators can:
- Guide you through the healthcare system
- Help you fill out insurance forms
- Help you find ways to pay for your care if you don’t have insurance
- Direct you to local resources and support
- Help you keep track of and find ways to get to your appointment
- Help you get your questions answered
- Help provide education and information on your care
Cancer Patient Navigators
Our Cancer Patient Navigators are here to support you through all phases of your care including screening and diagnosis, treatment and survivorship. They are available for both outpatient and inpatient consultations, and can also work collaboratively with palliative care.
Paula Huntsman, RN, BSN
Cancer Patient Navigator
As a Registered Nurse and Cancer Patient Navigator, Paula can provide disease and treatment education, help answer medication questions, help coordinate your care, and offer nutritional and symptom management recommendations and emotional support to patients and their families.
Heather Sinclair, LSW
Cancer Patient Navigator
As a Social Worker and Cancer Patient Navigator, Heather can help reduce barriers to care by connecting patients and their families to community resources such as housing and transportation assistance, financial assistance and other support groups. She can also help optimize access to financial resources to assist with treatment-related costs, including prescriptions.
Referrals and Contact
If you would like to participate in the Cancer Patient Navigator Program, please ask your MDI Hospital primary care provider to make a referral for you. For more information about the program, please call 207-288-5082, ext. 1305.
